Procurement strategy
Rent or Purchase an LN₂ Cleanroom Fogger?
A rental can reduce capital commitment for a one-time study, but it can also create schedule, transport, training and configuration risk. Purchase is not automatically better either; an underused LN₂ system can become a maintenance and storage burden.
Rental is strongest when
- The study is truly one-time or infrequent.
- The required model and accessories are available for the exact window.
- The facility can accept the rental’s cleaning, history and documentation.
- Training and LN₂ logistics can be completed before arrival.
- Schedule contingency exists for shipping or equipment issues.
Purchase is strongest when
- Multiple rooms or recurring certifications create repeat use.
- The facility needs a controlled, dedicated configuration.
- Internal operators can be trained and qualified.
- The site can maintain storage, inspection and service records.
- Availability risk would jeopardize production or validation schedules.
Calculate total cost, not daily rate
Include freight, cases, insurance, accessories, training, LN₂ supply, internal labor, downtime, cleaning, service, calibration/inspection where applicable and schedule risk. A technically unsuitable rental is expensive even if the invoice is small.
