Isolator and RABS Airflow Visualization
Isolators and RABS concentrate the airflow question into a smaller, higher-consequence space. The study must show first air, operator interaction, transfer routes and the effect of openings without letting the fog-introduction method dominate the enclosure.
Map the critical pathways
- HEPA source to exposed product or critical surface
- Glove and sleeve movements through first air
- Door, mouse-hole and transfer-port openings
- Equipment and container blockage
- Interventions, replenishment and removals
- Return or exhaust locations
- Potential reflux from adjacent zones
Pressure changes the delivery problem
A positively pressurized enclosure can resist fog introduced from outside. A high free-air output rating does not guarantee entry through a long hose, small adapter or pressure boundary. Qualify the exact entry point, hose, adapter and system state before the formal study.
Use output conservatively
Inside a small enclosure, excessive fog can erase local detail and create condensation concerns. Start with controlled output and a delivery geometry that introduces the tracer upstream of the observation question without creating an artificial jet.
Build a defensible fogger requirement
